About

I am a Robotics Ph.D. candidate at Oregon State University, expecting to graduate in June 2025. I am a member of the Laboratory for Robotics and Applied Mechanics (LRAM), advised by Prof. Ross L. Hatton. Starting August 2025, I will join the Biorobotics Lab at Carnegie Mellon University as a postdoctoral researcher working with Prof. Howie Choset. I received my B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Korea University in 2018 and 2021, respectively.

My research focuses on geometric mechanics, optimal control, and motion planning for bio-inspired robotic locomotion. In particular, I study how to design and control efficient, versatile gaits for locomoting systems such as snake-like and swimming robots. My work combines theoretical tools—including Riemannian geometry and variational calculus—with practical implementation on physical robotic platforms.

Keywords of my interests are:

  • Geometric mechanics
  • Trajectory optimization
  • Riemannian Variational Calculus
